Decentralized motor starter with Safe torque off

Motors in conveyor systems need to be switched off safely. However, the wiring and energy distribution involved is usually very complex. The podis® motor starter with integrated safe torque off makes it easy to plan, install, and service motors in a decentralized system. This safety function disconnects the power supply from the emergency stop circuits completely. As a result, the circuits no longer need to be assigned to a specific energy branch or routed through a central point. Systems that do not require a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) can now take advantage of the integrated safety function without the additional cost and complexity of VFDs.

The motor starter podis® MS 5HP from Wieland Electric with integrated safe torque off (STO) for motors 0.3 Hp to 5 Hp.

Safe Torque Off

The combination of motor starter functions with integrated safety functions fills a gap in the motor starter market. A superior level of safety (SIL 3, PL e) can be achieved with less effort. Conveyor systems will benefit greatly from enhanced decentralized motor control.

Multiple Motor sizes, One starter

The podis® MS 5HP covers motors with a power range from 0.3 Hp to 5 Hp (0.25 kW to 4.0 kW). That’s up to 5 different motors! With only one starter for multiple motors, planning and maintenance are much more straightforward. With only one part number to manage, replacements are a cinch.
